    Evansville Area Trails Coalition, Evansville Parks and Recreation and Evansville Bicycle Club Hosts Fun Educational Children’s Bicycle Rodeo Safety Event

    The Evansville Area Trails Coalition (ETC), Evansville Department of Parks & Recreation (DPR) and the Evansville Bicycle Club are elated to announce the upcoming 2024 Bicycle Rodeo Event, aimed at promoting safe cycling habits among young riders in the Evansville area region.

    Taking place on Saturday, May 4, 2024,10:00 a.m., at the old Lamasco Skate Park location, this family-friendly event promises a day filled with interactive activities, bicycle safety education instruction, and hands-on demonstrations to empower children and their families with essential bicycle safety knowledge.

    The Children's Bicycle Safety Event will feature:

     Helmet Fitting Station: Volunteers will provide free helmet fittings and ensure that each child's helmet is properly adjusted for maximum safety.

     Bicycle Inspection: Attendees can bring their bikes for a complimentary safety inspection conducted by experienced volunteers, who will check brakes, tires, and other crucial components to ensure safe riding.

     Safety Instruction: Engaging bicycle safety instruction led by local experts will cover topics such as road safety, hand signals, rules of the road, and the importance of visibility while cycling.  Obstacle Course: Children will have the opportunity to navigate a fun and challenging bicycle obstacle course designed to teach them essential bike handling skills in a safe and controlled environment.

     Refreshments: Snacks and drinks are provided free with registration.

    "We are thrilled to host this exciting event dedicated to promoting bicycle safety awareness among children and families in our community," said Lorie Van Hook, ETC Executive Director. "By providing valuable resources, hands-on activities, and expert guidance, we hope to empower young cyclists with the knowledge and skills they need to stay safe while riding their bike and being active." The Children's Bicycle Safety Event is free and open to the public.
