Children's Museum of Evansville Launches "Play it Forward" Campaign

Fundraising efforts will reimagine and expand museum exhibits and programs

The Children’s Museum of Evansville (cMoe) is inviting the community to invest in the future of children as it embarks on a major fundraising campaign that will transform exhibits and programs throughout the museum.

The goal of the Play It Forward Capital Campaign is to raise six and a half million dollars to build a new mobile museum and outdoor exhibit on the rooftop. The museum will also use the funding to refresh and redesign the water play area, theater, and other exhibits.

For the past ten months, the museum has been quietly meeting with donors and has already secured more than four million dollars toward its goal. This is the largest, most significant fundraising effort in the museum’s history.

"We are thrilled with the success of the private phase of this fundraising campaign. It demonstrates the incredible commitment of our supporters to the growth and development of our children," said Stephanie Terry, Executive Director of cMoe. "But we still have a ways to go. We are counting on our community to help us raise two and a half million dollars to bring our vision to reality.”

cMoe will officially launch the public phase of Play It Forward at a kick-off event at the museum on Thursday, September 28th, at 11:30 a.m. The museum will unveil designs of the new play spaces. The press is invited and encouraged to attend this event.

Alongside this news, later this month, cMoe will celebrate its 17th birthday and anticipates welcoming its one-millionth “Explorer” through the door in October. “Our Play it Forward campaign is about making sure the museum is ready to serve the next one million visitors. We hope our community will join us in creating play spaces that children, and our community, deserve,” said Terry.

Once the Play It Forward Campaign is publicly launched, donations can be made at www.cmoekids.org.
