The Vanderburgh Community Foundation and the Warrick County Community Foundation are offering scholarships for 2021.
The Vanderburgh Community Foundation and the Warrick County Community Foundation are excited to announce the opening of the community scholarship awards cycle for 2021.
“Many donors have honored their loved ones, high schools, or professions by endowing scholarship opportunities through the Community Foundations,” says Sidney Hardgrave, Regional Director of Community Engagement and Impact. “We administer separate scholarship funds established by individuals, families, and organizations to assist local students in pursuit of advanced education. Together, these scholarships make up our Community Scholarship Programs.”
Eligibility requirements and selection criteria for each scholarship are determined by the scholarship founder. Each scholarship is unique and supports students with a variety of backgrounds and educational goals. Awards are made without regard to race, creed, color, sex, or national origin and are based on a competitive process.
Students may apply for one or more scholarships, as long as they meet the specific eligibility requirements. Details about each scholarship and the application requirements are posted under the Scholarship Opportunities tab on the Foundations’ websites.
The Vanderburgh Community Foundation offers 23 endowed scholarships providing over $48,000 in support each year. Scholarship applications are due by 11:30 pm on Wednesday, February 20, 2021. Please visit www.
The Warrick County Community Foundation has twelve endowed scholarships providing over $13,500 in support. Scholarship applications are due by 11:30 pm on Wednesday, February 10, 2021. Please visit www.
The Community Foundations offer the following tips to help students strengthen their applications:
1. Begin working on the application early.
2. Search for scholarships that match your unique interests and talents.
3. Take the time to write required essays. It’s worth the extra effort.
4. Follow all instructions carefully and make sure you are submitting all the required pieces (including letters of recommendation, transcripts, etc.). Check and double-check your application before submitting.
5. Ask a friend or teacher to read your application and essay for any mistakes that you may have missed.
