The importance of being safe and secure online has never been more important.
At a time when cybersecurity threats and attacks have increased significantly over the last year, and the importance of being safe and secure online is more prevalent, the State of Indiana is introducing the Indiana Cyber Blog on its Cybersecurity Hub website to promote best practices and safety tips.
“Every aspect of our lives, it seems, relies on computers and the Internet and cybersecurity is at the heart of it all,” said State of Indiana Chief Information Officer Tracy Barnes. “As a digital transformation continues, the way we communicate with emails and texts on our phones and other electronic devices is changing rapidly. Our entertainment, shopping, and transportation, even our health and well-being depend on our personal information and being safe, secure, and protected from the reach of cyber criminals.”
The blog will also focus on topics ranging from data privacy and creating strong passwords to tips for working from home, as well as balancing other challenges, such as working from home while having a child or teenager who’s attending school online. Additionally, it will have guest bloggers from a variety of backgrounds in cybersecurity, including a special interview with the State Chief Information Officer (CIO) and the first African-American woman CIO of NASA. Other special guests will include bloggers who are state officials, local government officials, cybersecurity business owners, academic advisors, nationally recognized experts, and more.
“Here in Indiana, we are fortunate to have a lot of incredible partners who have made such a huge difference in the cybersecurity field, in addition to lots of resources that can be found easily at www.in.gov/cyber to help everyone be cybersafe,” said Chetrice Mosley-Romero, State of Indiana’s Cybersecurity Program Director. “We’re pleased and excited to launch this blog along with a Twitter and Facebook account to get much-needed information about how cybersecurity affects us in every way, and more importantly, what each of us can do to protect ourselves, our family, and our employers.”
“So we invite everyone to visit our new page, sign up as a subscriber, and follow us on social media,” she added.
The Indiana Cyber Blog can be found at www.in.gov/cybersecurity/blog.
The blog adds to an already large collection of cybersecurity information on the hub that includes information about what to do if you are a victim of a cyber crime such as a cyber attack on your organization or a victim of identity theft, sector-specific information, cybersecurity self-assessments for individuals and businesses, toolkits for emergency managers, cybersecurity guides for school communities, tips to protect yourself, your family, your children, and much more.
