It's a match! Local donor will double up to $12,000 in donations made to Salvation Army Red Kettles

Match will double impact of cash donated to The Salvation Army on Friday and Saturday

Busy shoppers looking to stretch their dollars further this year have a chance to to the same with their charitable giving thanks to a local supporter of The Salvation Army. This Friday and Saturday all cash donations made to the iconic Red Kettles will be doubled up to $12,000 in hopes of encouraging shoppers to help out a neighbor in need this Christmas.

The Salvation Army's annual Christmas fundraising campaign has a goal of raising $310,000 by Christmas Eve. The $12,000 match on December 9 and 10 will give a big boost to donations collected in Vanderburg and Warrick counties, but the impact of the gift will last well into 2023.

While the "Angel Donor" making this $12,000 gift remains anonymous, they did share a message of encouragement for those who come across a Red Kettle this weekend:

"I love giving to The Salvation Army because they serve our community in such practical ways - feeding the hungry, helping at-risk youth, while sharing God's love for every person. To be able to inspire people to give more through a kettle match was a perfect Christmas gift."

Evansville Bell Ringers (2).jpg"Kettle matches are special to me because it is a picture of a loving community working together to meet a need," said Major Jason Poff of The Salvation Army of Evansville. "Resources coming together and leveraged for the Most Good is special and we are so grateful for this community!"

Funds collected during the annual Red Kettle Campaign support The Salvation Army's programming year-round, making it possible to help local children, families, and adults through a variety of impactful services.

In 2021, The Salvation Army of Evansville provided more than 188,000 nutritious meals and grocery orders to help fight food insecurity. Whether a family is facing an empty pantry, is in need of help with utility bills, or is simply looking for a safe place for kids to go after school, The Salvation Army is ready to meet their needs.

Volunteer bell ringers are needed to ensure that every Red Kettle in the community can be out during the $12,000 match period on Friday and Saturday. Anyone interested in volunteering to ring a bell this weekend or anytime this holiday season is invited to visit RegisterToRing.com and find a location, date, and time that works for their schedule.

Every donation given to The Salvation Army through the annual Red Kettle Campaign provides help and hope to those in need, and all gifts stay right here in the community where it is given. Visit SAEvansville.org to learn more about how you can help The Salvation Army ensure that they can Love Beyond Christmas and help those in need in 2023.
