Red Cross to Host Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for New Emergency Response Vehicle

The Southwest Chapter of the Indiana Region of the Red Cross is excited to add a new Emergency Response Vehicle (ERV) to its fleet.

The ERV was generously donated by Dr. Terry and Kathy Talley. The ribbon cutting ceremony will take place at 1:30 p.m. on August 13, 2020, at 29 S. Stockwell Rd. in Evansville.

“The community has been very good to Kathy and me and we wanted to give back in a meaningful way,” said Talley, a retired eye surgeon who founded the Talley Eye Institute. “This vehicle will serve southern Indiana and beyond. We are thrilled to be able to give this gift to the Red Cross.”

This new ERV will serve the Southwest Indiana Chapter and will be available for national disasters. The new ERVs are built on Mercedes Benz chassis and do not require a special license to drive. They are energy efficient, have twice the window space for serving meals, have interior space for one-on-one meetings, and are WIFI enabled.

The Talleys believe in the mission of the Red Cross. Terry is an Army veteran who is familiar with the Red Cross’ Service to the Armed Forces. Their son-in-law is active duty Army and Kathy’s father benefited from life-saving Red Cross blood.
