Region III ACTE Announces Winners

Congratulations to our student staff at 90.7 WPSR for winning 1st and 2nd place!

Region III ACTE has announced their audio winners for the “Be a Part of the Investment…Teach CTE” campaign contest. Region Project III ACTE (Association of Career and Technical Education) has proudly sponsored the “Be a Part of the Investment…Teach CTE” Public Service Announcement campaign. The goal of the contest was to provide broadcast-ready PSAs produced by high school students highlighting the need for CTE teachers.

Indiana takes a clean sweep in the audio portion of the contest. First and second place honors went to the Southern Indiana Career and Technical Institute. Third place went to the Elkhart Area Career Center. Judges agreed that all three winning PSAs summarized the need for
teachers and did so with passion and emotion.

The Region III ACTE division, consisting of Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Minnesota, Missouri and Wisconsin created the “Be a Part of the Investment…Teach CTE” public awareness campaign and awarded $250, $150 and $100 for first, second and third place winners.

Winning PSAs can be heard at: https://www.acteonline.org/region-page/region-iii-teach-cte/

CTE classes in our high schools give students an academic foundation along with technical skills and hands-on experience in career areas that provide real-world experience. Job opportunities are abundant for CTE educators. Research shows most CTE educators have high job satisfaction
    leading to rewarding careers.

The eight-week process included studying the elements of a public service announcement, media production of PSAs, and research on the history of Career and Technical education. Best practices were used and media professionals were asked to offer their advice and assistance. “Be a Part of the Investment…Teach CTE” radio PSAs are ready for distribution, just in time for CTE Month in February. We hope you will find the PSAs ideal for your media outlet.
