The Salvation Army announces Red Kettle Match that will turn $20 into $100 final week of campaign

Donations made December 19 through Christmas Eve to be matched thanks to local supporters

The Salvation Army of Evansville is excited to announce a special match that will take place at all Red Kettles starting on Thursday, December 19 and running through Christmas Eve, the final day of the annual Red Kettle Campaign. Thanks to the combined effort of several anonymous local donors, over $63,000 is available to be unlocked as part of the match challenge, but The Salvation Army will need the public's help to make the most of this incredible opportunity.

Evansville.jpgAll large bills $20 and up will be matched 5-to-1, turning any $20 donation into $100. Donations smaller than $20, from $10 bills down to pennies, will still be matched 1-to-1, doubling the impact of even the humblest of gifts.

Shoppers looking for a Red Kettle to make their gift by Christmas Eve can find them at Walmart, Sam's Club, Schnucks, IGA, Hobby Lobby, and several other store locations, daily from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

“It's not just about giving, but inspiring others to join the cause," said Captain Brandon Lewis, Corps Officer & Southwest Indiana Area Coordinator for The Salvation Army. “This 5:1 match ensures generosity will be magnified throughout the year to meet need wherever it appears. Together we can make a difference, one dollar at a time!”

As Christmas nears, many local residents have sought help from The Salvation Army’s holiday programs and food assistance in a time of need. Thanks to donations made to the Red Kettles, The Salvation Army can continue to provide programs throughout the year. Last year, donations allowed The Salvation Army to provide over 300,000 meals to those facing food insecurity and rent, utility, and other social services to thousands of area residents.

There are still many 1-hour volunteer bell ringing shifts available between now and Christmas Eve. Volunteer bellringers encourage over $60 in donations each hour by raising awareness, and that $60 could become as much as $300 with this special 5:1 match. Anyone willing to donate an hour of their time can sign up at www.registertoring.com and pick their preferred day, time, and location that works best for their schedule.

Every donation given to The Salvation Army through the annual Red Kettle Campaign provides help and hope to those in need, and all gifts stay in the community where it is given.
