Traffic shift planned for U.S. 41 in Evansville

INDOT continues to solidify the Hoosier State as the Crossroads of America through delivery of Gov. Eric J. Holcomb’s $60 billion Next Level Roads plan.

The Indiana Department of Transportation announces a traffic shift for U.S. 41 in Vanderburgh County.

Beginning on or around Thursday, December 19, crews will shift southbound U.S. 41 traffic in Evansville from southbound lanes to the northbound side of the roadway. This switch will occur between Diamond Avenue and The Lloyd Expressway.

This lane switch is part of a project to reconstruct U.S. 41 in this area. Movement to the recently reconstructed northbound lanes will allow the southbound reconstruction to begin. Traffic in both directions will be separated by delineators.

During this phase of the project, left turns from southbound traffic will be restricted at Morgan Avenue, Columbia Street and Virginia Street. Southbound traffic wishing to turn left is encouraged to utilize the cloverleaf interchange at The Lloyd Expressway as a detour. This phase of the project is expected to remain in the place through May of 2025, depending on the weather.
