According to director and Castle High School drama teacher Eric Antey, the production was chosen as a flexible, feel-good show that the students and community would enjoy.
Continuing its quarter-century tradition, the Warrick County Summer Musical will present “Footloose” from July 15-18 at Castle High School. Due to COVID-19, current CDC guidelines will be followed. Health and safety guidelines may include virtual rehearsals, limited audience attendance, and limited school capacity. Auditions will be held virtually using Google Classroom.
Presented by the Warrick County School Corporation and Warrick Public Education Foundation, this feel-good production, based on the 1984 hit movie with Oscar and Tony-nominated music, includes all of the pulse-raising hit songs, such as "Holding Out for a Hero," "Let's Hear it for the Boy," and the exhilarating title track "Footloose."
According to director and Castle High School drama teacher Eric Antey, the production was chosen as a flexible, feel-good show that the students and community would enjoy.
“Because of the current environment, we needed to create a production that was up-beat and high energy but with the flexibility to change size and scope if necessary,” Antey said. “This show gives us that opportunity, and it provides the students with a show directly connected to their age group.”
Like its movie counterpart, rebellious teenager Ren McCormack moves from Chicago to a small town in Texas where dance and rock music are forbidden. He leads his classmates around the law – and Reverend Shaw Moore – to break free and have a rock’n’roll senior prom.
Auditions will be held virtually via a Google Classroom link (join code: fsonxkj) along with a completed registration form by midnight on April 8. All information will be communicated to students via this link.
Ticket information and additional on-sale information will be provided in June, approximately one month prior to the show. Additional sponsors are needed to produce this show.
This year’s production is presented by Thacker, Charnes, Stowe and associates, a wealth advisory practice of Ameriprise Financial Services, Inc. Media sponsorship includes WIKY radio and WEHT/WTVW television and TriStateHomepage.com.
