Western Ribeye & Ribs Announces Permanent Closing

Western Ribeye & Ribs on 1401 N. Boeke Avenue in Evansville has announced its permanent closure.

Owners David and Dan Nix announced today the permanent closing of Western Ribeye & Ribs.  An official statement says:

“For 45 years, it has been our family’s privilege and honor to serve your family.

It took a pandemic to force us to close our doors.

As of June 20, 2020, we will no longer be open for business.

    You will be missed.”

At this time, David and Dan Nix are not available for further comment.

In 1975, hometown natives Harold and Carolyn Nix opened Western Ribeye with the goal of earning the reputation for serving the very best steak and other menu items in Evansville, Indiana. Not only did they achieve their goal, they made sure every excellent cut of beef was accompanied by outstanding service. Western Ribeye introduced one of the area’s first and finest salad bars.

In 1985, the Nix’s sons, David and Dan, joined the family operation and expanded the restaurant as well as the menu. With the addition of the now-famous barbeque ribs, the name became Western Ribeye & Ribs. All these years later, it still reigned as one of the most popular local restaurants in Evansville.

Among the restaurant’s most notable attributes were the numerous ways in which it was perceived and revered by those who frequented it. For many, Western Ribeye & Ribs was a landmark Evansville steakhouse. For others, it was the ideal venue for every significant corporate lunch. Some considered it among the best rib places in Evansville. And, businesses, groups, and organizations in Evansville and beyond appreciated its capabilities to accommodate private dining.
